TÜV NORD has issued a Material Data Sheet for the European Approval of Lean Duplex steel LDX 2101, developed by Outokumpu. After more than ten years, a new European Approval for Materials/EAM has been issued.

TÜV NORD has certified the bio natural gas products from Enovos Luxembourg S.A., one of the largest suppliers of natural gas and electricity in Luxembourg. The certification demonstrates that Enovos is committed to renewable energy sources.

TÜV NORD has witnessed the testing of a photovoltaic current inverter for the American General Electric (GE) corporation. The device was developed for the German market, and the variable inverter – which converts the direct current from the PV modules into network-compatible three-phase alternating current – is one of the core components in the development of intelligent energy networks in Germany.

In the past it has often not been possible to utilise otherwise advantageous sites for wind turbines, as standard calculations specify a large distance to buildings. However, TÜV NORD has developed a new method which enables more precise risk assessments to be carried out. This means that more turbine sites can be opened up in future, whilst still maintaining the highest safety standards for people and the environment. TÜV NORD will be presenting these and other wind energy solutions at the EWEA Annual Event in Copenhagen as from 16 April.

The Federal Government has selected the regions to be funded within the framework of the ‘Electromobility Shop Window’ programme. In addition to Berlin/Brandenburg, Bavaria/Saxony and Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony’s bid was also successful. As a large technical service provider from the region with many years of experience with alternative drives, TÜV NORD supports the “electrification” of the Metropolitan Region Hanover, Brunswick, Göttingen, Wolfsburg.

CO2-neutrality by 2030 – this is what Hesse aims to achieve for its Regional Government Authority. TÜV NORD has already checked the carbon footprint of the Authority once, at the start of the project. Now stage two has been reached: TÜV NORD has now verified the greenhouse gas inventories of the Hesse Regional Government Authority for the years 2009 and 2010, thereby continuing to support this future-orientated project.

TÜV NORD engineers in Germany and Spain have been closely following the docking manoeuvre of the third Automated Transfer Vehicle (ATV) with the international space station (ISS). ALTER TECHNOLOGY TÜV NORD (ATN) supported the development of the transporter by testing and qualifying electronic components.

No compromises are acceptable when it comes to plant safety, and it is not only a question of risk to life and limb – downtimes, loss of revenue and time delays are not acceptable in today’s globalised world. Plant safety is therefore an important social and economic factor, and the purpose of the Plant Safety Award is to acknowledge this.
